About WowMillion

Money made readable, for people with real lives and real bills.

WowMillion started with a complaint. A reader of one of our editors' old newspaper columns wrote in to say she had read four articles about interest rates that week and still had no idea whether she should fix her mortgage. Every piece was accurate. None of them was useful.

That gap is the whole reason this site exists.

What we do

We cover personal finance and the economy for people who are not in finance. Our test for publishing an article is simple: after reading it, can someone do something differently on Monday morning? If the answer is no, the piece gets sent back.

How we work

Who writes here

Marisol Vega

Editor-in-chief

Fifteen years covering household finance for regional newspapers before founding WowMillion. Obsessed with making a balance sheet feel like a story.

Daniel Okafor

Markets writer

Former credit analyst. Translates central bank statements into sentences a normal person can act on.

Priya Raman

Consumer money reporter

Covers bills, banks and the small print. Has read more terms-and-conditions pages than anyone should.

Our funding

WowMillion is funded by display advertising and, occasionally, affiliate links which are labelled where they appear. We do not take payment to recommend a product, and we do not publish sponsored articles dressed up as journalism.

Corrections and tips

Spotted an error, or sitting on a story about how a bank or lender treats its customers? Write to the desk through the contact page. We read everything and protect sources.
